Always sick, Thank God!

by George Faltaous R.Ph.

By the time I turned ten, I had two surgeries under my belt and countless sinus infections. Strep bacteria were a legal full time resident of my upper respiratory tract. A monthly course of antibiotics would sometimes fail and make room for injection antibiotics. Severe allergies were to blame for the chronic inflammation, so corticosteroid sprays were prescribed.

I was by no means a sickly child, though. I was very active, captain of my soccer team, tennis player and of various social activities at school. I was functioning fine, only always on meds.

Even thirty some years later, millions of kids are living the same way.

Things got worse in my teens. Doctors took my tonsils out for repeated infections, which precipitated allergic asthma. I also had hyper acidity and later acid reflux that stayed with me for 25 years.

After five years of pharmacy school, I landed an internship at one of the world’s foremost nutritional pharmacies in the Big Apple. Things were different there. Pharmacists and nutritionists treated all kinds of illnesses with vitamins and natural substances. My supervising pharmacist noticed that I’m always on antibiotics and suggested I take some Echenaecia and Vitamin C to avert the infections.

I dismissed it as “This is non-sense! If this stuff worked, they would’ve taught it to us in pharmacy school. Plus how come none of the renowned physicians who treated me over the years never mentioned it?" A case of first class professional arrogance!

Nothing is more persuasive, however, than seeing customers coming back for more “vitamins” and unequivocal –sometimes astonishing- improvements in various diseases.

I finally decided to try the recommendation. ‘It wouldn’t hurt” I told myself, “simply take this stuff when you feel a cold coming”. That was late 1995. For five years after that, I didn’t need a pill of antibiotics, and the first time I had to use them, it was not for an upper respiratory tract infection. I started reading, going to lectures, attending conferences and never stopped.

I then moved to New Jersey and worked at “Colonia Natural Pharmacy” where we carried extensive lines of high quality supplements.  For two years, I counseled people on supplements, gave lectures at local hospitals and held support groups for Multiple Sclerosis, Aids, Cancer patients and autistic kids. I also filled tens of thousands of prescriptions.

My first adventure as entrepreneur was a vitamin catalog and nutrition counseling. Then came wrinkle creams. If you ever wondered why Chamonix skin care is all based on antioxidants, now you know.

My first antioxidant love was Vitamin C which awarded Linus Pauling a Nobel Prize in Medicine, and then came the mother of all antioxidants Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA).

ALA is a powerful free radical scavenger. It is also both hydrophilic and lipophilic. It lowers blood glucose level to therapeutic levels- a must consideration for diabetics.

In addition, ALA is the only substance used to treat certain lethal mushroom poisoning- in fact it was used, and probably still is, in Germany as a drug for this purpose because it has the remarkable ability to detoxify and help regenerate liver tissue.

ALA improves mitochondrial function and thus better tissue energy metabolism.

ALA causes the programmed cell death (apoptosis) of cancer and precancerous cells in various kinds of cancers while selectively protecting surrounding healthy cells.

ALA causes overweight subjects to lose excess body fat through more efficient sugar metabolism.

ALA increases the lifespan of other antioxidants and is unique in its ability to increase glutathione levels. And we haven’t even scratched the surface. No other supplement is so assertively versatile.

If you ever wondered why Th-121 and Th-121 plus are built around Alpha Lipoic Acid and its ability to affect weight loss, now you know!

Through the years, supplements, nutrition and complimentary understanding of the human body helped me and my family stay healthy in a remarkable way. Probably none more important than putting my beautiful wife’s dreaded Ulcerative Colitis into permanent remission after seven long years.

I also recently got rid of my acid reflux simply by introducing high potency probiotics.

If I weren’t always sick as a child, I would’ve probably never experienced the benefits of complimentary medicine.

Now, a stern warning: don’t go treating yourself from serious disease. What worked for me might not work for you, and supplements are not intended as medicine for many legitimate reasons. You can and you should –however- read how many complimentary and drug free practices including supplements, relaxation techniques, exercise, acupuncture and more could strengthen your immune system and help your body stay healthy.

Nutrition is and always will be a passion of mine, that’s why Chamonix Nutraceuticals is launching our first collection of supplements. But more important than supplements is the education we will try to provide to you- our customer.

I will encourage you to read. I will provide invaluable suggestions and resources to you on the pages of our catalog, newsletters and website.

None of our suggestions should be construed as medical advice. No one knows your condition better than your doctor. Always ask your doctor. It is not only my legal obligation to tell you so, but my moral one as well.
